Dear Family, Your Summer all sounds super fun! I totally understand Mikell praying in Chinese still! Though I'm in the states and speak way more English than her (meaning any amount at all), I honestly don't remember my last English prayer. I'm pretty sure it was my first week at the MTC. I can't imagine a whole mission later! Anyway, for one, I realized that I never mentioned that after the first week in the MTC I got switched to a trio, which is a whole other beast! I learned SO MUCH in a trio with twice as many companions and 4 times as many relations (between each two and all three together)! I've grown so much in terms of understanding people, listening to them, and being able to communicate compassion! Then, I go to the mission field thinking everything will be EASY with just one companion...I still don't know that yet! You saw me with Elder Black, my trainer who came out here English speaking and got told to learn Spanish 6 weeks in! Right now he's fluent and SO energetic and friendly to everyone and fantastic! Besides him though, we also have Elder Galloway (yes, another trio!). They've both had diabetic companions and get the basics and the emergency stuff so it's pretty much fantastic. Elder Matt Smith with | I may have been hoping for an easy duo so I could focus on the work, but the Lord knows what he's doing by putting me in an easy trio! (BAM! Trio for the win! We can get rides from ANYONE! Ha!) So life is awesome! I've really never spoken so little that I can remember! I can follow all the spanish conversations, fast as they are and with accents from every place under the sun, but I'm not quite fast enough on the draw to say as much as I do in English (though I'm getting there). Before I forget! My current address is 110 Classic Court Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548 I did see Walker AND get a picture but brought the wrong SD card so next week expect TONS of photos! Speaking of which, it IS pretty lush and beautiful hear, but what the picture DOESN'T show, is the 90s-100s degrees and water in the air. No one irons their shirts, you just walk outside. Honestly, every time I leave the apartment I have to wait for a second before the fog clears off my glasses! So yeah, we may or may not be sweaty all the time, you can't really tell because you're soaked and hot either way, but we love it! I love the people! We have tons of people interested in the church! The biggest difficulty here is getting appointments with people here and getting them to church because of the work schedules so many of them have with little say in when they get off. However the Lord always provides a way, and everyone here loves Jesus! It's great!!! My love to everyone! Elder Smith Elder Matt Smith with |
